Peregrine and Griffin NASA CLPS lunar landers
Accomplishments
Recognized under Tier 1 — Interplanetary Logistics, Astrobotic Technology develops robotic lunar landers under NASA's Commercial Lunar Payload Services program. Its Peregrine Mission One launched in January 2024 as the first CLPS mission to fly, though a propulsion system failure prevented a lunar landing. The company has since developed Griffin, a larger "infrastructure-class" lander capable of delivering roughly 625 kilograms to the lunar surface, unveiled in June 2026 ahead of a targeted fourth-quarter 2026 launch on a Falcon Heavy rocket; Griffin Mission One is planned to carry ten payloads from six nations, including Astrolab's FLEX Lunar Innovation Platform rover. Astrobotic is being acquired by Voyager Technologies, announced in June 2026. Griffin's heavier payload class positions Astrobotic to move from science instruments toward the surface infrastructure — power, mobility, and logistics hardware — that a durable lunar base depends on.
