The company launched the first tranche of ten next-generation relay satellites in January 2026 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9, each carrying at least four laser terminals and onboard multi-GPU compute modules capable of processing data in orbit rather than only downlinking it, with operational service targeted for the second half of 2026. Kepler's satellites are built to Space Development Agency optical-compatibility standards, enabling cross-network laser links rather than relying solely on ground stations.
