Relativity Space
Terran R; 3D-printed fully reusable medium-lift rocket
Accomplishments
Recognized under Tier 1 — Interplanetary Logistics, Relativity Space is developing Terran R, a medium-to-heavy-lift rocket built using large-scale metal 3D printing and designed for full reusability. As of mid-2026, the vehicle's second stage has moved to NASA's Stennis Space Center for testing, the first-stage qualification article is undergoing structural load testing, and the company's Cape Canaveral launch site (LC-16) and horizontal integration facility are nearing completion, with a maiden flight targeted for late 2026. Relativity holds an estimated $3 billion in pre-launch contracts, including a multi-launch agreement with OneWeb for its second-generation satellite constellation. If Terran R reaches orbit and demonstrates reuse as planned, its combination of large payload capacity and rapid, largely automated manufacturing would add launch capacity relevant to the high-cadence, lower-cost transport that sustained lunar and Mars logistics chains will need.
