Recognized under Tier 7 — Interplanetary Communications, SES Networks operates the O3b mPOWER medium Earth orbit constellation, a Boeing-built, software-defined system that reached ten operational satellites by March 2026 en route to a planned 13-satellite fleet delivering terabit-class capacity and roughly 150-millisecond fibre-like latency. The Luxembourg-headquartered operator, born from a public-private partnership with the Luxembourg government, has also demonstrated inter-satellite relay connectivity with NASA under a nearly $29 million Space Act Agreement covering GEO C-band and MEO Ka-band relay service for spacecraft during launch, ascent, and early-orbit operations, and provides MEO capacity to NATO member nations through its GovSat affiliate. SES's combination of proven MEO relay demonstrations with NASA and hardened government-grade connectivity positions its network architecture as a candidate layer for the low-latency, high-capacity relay links a Moon or Mars program would need between Earth-orbiting assets and mission control.
