Recognized under Tier 5 — Energy Production & Storage, Space Power is a power-beaming company that has developed a patented laser-based charging system designed to work universally across satellite platforms rather than requiring a custom receiver for each customer. The company demonstrated its universal power-beaming prototype for the first time in June 2025, following a 2024 international patent grant covering its core beaming technology, and has agreed to launch its first in-orbit demonstrator, the Space Power Optical Charge unit, in partnership with BAE Systems. Its initial commercial focus is rescuing and extending the life of geostationary satellites suffering power degradation, with a stated goal of adding several years of operational life per spacecraft, before expanding into low Earth orbit power support. Space Power has publicly identified lunar and Martian missions as long-term targets for its beaming technology, an application relevant to any outpost or rover that finds itself in shadow, in a crater, or otherwise unable to rely on direct sunlight for power.
