Voyager Space / Nanoracks
Starlab commercial space station developed with Airbus
Accomplishments
Recognized under Tier 3 — Structural Habitats, Voyager Technologies (formerly Voyager Space, parent of Nanoracks) is developing Starlab, a commercial space station built with Airbus through the Starlab Space LLC joint venture, which also includes Mitsubishi Corporation, Space Application Services, Palantir, and MDA. Starlab centers on a single large metallic module roughly eight meters in diameter housing three decks — systems, payload laboratory, and crew habitation — with fabrication of the primary aluminum structure underway at NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility. The program advanced to Critical Design Review in late 2025, and Voyager is running NASA-backed demonstration missions for an alternative urine processor and a free-space optical communications link ahead of a targeted 2028 launch. Voyager completed a $3.8 billion-valuation IPO in June 2025 to help fund the program. Starlab's single large-diameter pressure vessel and integrated life support demonstrations map closely to the kind of consolidated, high-volume habitat architecture a Mars-bound crew module would need.
