Adrian Tang

Recognized under Tier 7 — Interplanetary Communications, Adrian Tang conducts innovative research in millimeter-wave and terahertz communication systems at UCLA and JPL. Tang's work on high-frequency, high-bandwidth communication circuits and systems — pushing toward the terahertz regime where enormous spectral bandwidth is available — contributes to the long-term technology roadmap for extremely high-data-rate communication links that future interplanetary and surface communication systems may ultimately exploit. As the data demands of a Mars colony grow to include high-definition video, large scientific datasets, and immersive telepresence, the development of higher-bandwidth communication technologies becomes increasingly important.
