Chatwin Lansdowne

Recognized under Tier 7 — Interplanetary Communications, Chatwin Lansdowne has made technical contributions to deep space communication protocols and standards at JPL. Lansdowne's work on the development, implementation, and standardization of communication protocols for space missions — including contributions through the Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) — helps ensure that spacecraft and ground systems from different agencies and nations can communicate reliably and interoperably. That standards-level protocol work may be less visible than hardware achievements, but it is the foundation on which all interplanetary communication depends, with profound importance to any multi-national Mars colonization effort.
