Emmanuel Urquieta

Recognized under Tier 9 — Extraterrestrial Healthcare, Emmanuel Urquieta contributes to space medicine and human performance research in analog and extreme environments. Urquieta's medical and research background — including work in human spaceflight medicine and experience with space analog environments — brings practical, mission-oriented expertise to the challenge of maintaining crew health during the isolation, confinement, and physiological stress of a Mars mission. As a faculty member at the University of Central Florida focusing on space medicine education and research, Urquieta is also helping train the next generation of space medicine professionals who will ultimately support Mars colonization efforts.
