Issa Nesnas

Recognized under Tier 8 — Robotics & Autonomy, Issa Nesnas has made outstanding contributions to autonomous planetary robotics at JPL. Nesnas's work developing robotic systems capable of independent navigation, manipulation, and decision-making in harsh, unstructured environments — including leadership on rover autonomy and reconfigurable robot platforms — directly addresses one of the core requirements of any Mars colonization effort: the ability to deploy robotic systems that can prepare, build, and operate with minimal human supervision across a planet 140 million miles away.
