Recognized under Tier 3 — Structural Habitats & Space Architecture, Melodie Yashar does leading work at the intersection of space architecture and additive construction. As a co-creator of Mars Dune Alpha — NASA's 3D-printed analog Mars habitat constructed by ICON at Johnson Space Center and used for the CHAPEA crew isolation studies — Yashar has helped bring space habitat design from concept into full-scale, mission-realistic hardware. This work connecting architectural design practice with the emerging field of additive construction for extreme environments is directly shaping what Mars habitats could actually look and feel like for the people who will eventually live in them.
