Sandra Häuplik-Meusburger

Recognized under Tier 3 — Structural Habitats & Space Architecture, Sandra Häuplik-Meusburger has made outstanding contributions to the architecture and design of habitats for extreme and isolated environments. Häuplik-Meusburger's research at TU Wien integrates architectural theory, human factors, and the psychological dimensions of confined, long-duration living — a perspective as essential as any engineering discipline to the success of a Mars colony. Work examining analog environments such as Antarctic stations and underwater habitats as proxies for space settlements, along with scholarship on adaptable, human-centered habitat design, directly informs how future colonists will live, work, and maintain their wellbeing on Mars.
