Shervin Shambayati

Recognized under Tier 7 — Interplanetary Communications, Shervin Shambayati has made technical contributions to deep space communication systems engineering at JPL. Shambayati's work on communication link design, capacity optimization, and operational planning for deep space missions has contributed to the design and performance of the systems that maintain contact with spacecraft across interplanetary distances. For a Mars colony, communication system design and operations — managing the deep space link through varying geometries, solar conjunctions, and relay configurations — will be an ongoing engineering discipline as critical as any other infrastructure function on the surface.
