Virgiliu Pop

Recognized under Tier 10 — Martian Law & Finance, Virgiliu Pop has made scholarly contributions to the theory of space property rights and the legal status of extraterrestrial territories. Pop's research on the legal bases for claims to outer space resources and territories — examining the historical, philosophical, and legal dimensions of property rights in space and the implications of the Outer Space Treaty's non-appropriation principle for future colonization — addresses one of the most fundamental and contested legal questions that a permanent Mars settlement will eventually force the international community to resolve. This work provides important theoretical grounding for that critical conversation.
